WSU student back in court over R14m NSFAS funds
Updated | By OFM News
The trial of the former Walter Sisulu University student, who got a surprise windfall of R14 million paid into her bank account, will continue on Friday.
Sibongile Mani, who has since been charged with theft, spent more than R800 000 of the money that was erroneously transferred into her student account.
The millions were paid by Intelli-mali, on behalf of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
Mani was only meant to receive R1 400.
Eastern Cape National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Anelisa Ngcakani says the state will call its last witness.
“The third trial of a WSU student who received more than R14 million into her student account in June 2017 resumes at the East London regional court, the state will call its last witness and thereafter close its case.”
