The 21-year-old was arrested on Sunday morning, shortly after she had arrived on a flight from Brazil.

Hers was the 11th arrest of a suspected drug mule at the airport in two months.

National Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe said by Monday night, the woman had released more than 110 drug bullets suspected to be cocaine.

"SAPS OR Tambo International Airport says this is more than the average drug bullets that drug mules that are intercepted at the OR TAMBO Airport usually carry.

"Police are urging people not to go to extreme lengths to risk their lives as this exercise can turn fatal. Police are also concerned on the involvement of young women in this type of criminality."

The week before, a 30-year-old Namibian woman was also arrested at the ORTIA, after x-rays showed she too had bullets with drugs in her stomach.

She released more than 60 of these bullets before she appeared in court.

On Friday, 13 September, a Nigerian national was arrested after he was found in possession of cocaine that was concealed in aircraft headphones after arriving from Brazil.
