Youth Focus: What kind of South Africa do we want to be educated in?
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
In the run-up to Youth Day on June 16, Jacaranda FM is engaging young people on the kind of South Africa they want to build and live in.
We spoke to Funzani Matsila, a Fees Must Fall Activist and a member of the Soweto Women's Forum, about the importance of social activism.
Matsila says in her activism, she fights for a society that offers free decolonised tertiary education, as well as gender and racial equality.
In response to Matsila, Mark Heywood from civil-society organisation Section 27, says young people have every right to demand change.
He believes young people have the right to hope for a better future, as this is a promise made by the Constitution.
