Zandile Gumede expected back in court today
Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
Embattled former eThekwini mayor, Zandile Gumede, is expected to appear in court later on Friday for the alleged violation of her bail conditions.
Hawks spokesperson, Hangwani Mulaudzi, says Gumede would be appearing in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Durban.
He adds Gumede's lawyers were informed of the latest developments and confirmed that she will be appearing as requested.
This comes after the Assets Forfeiture Unit (AFU) and the Hawks raided Gumede's rented house in Umhlanga on Thursday morning, but found that she was not there
It was at the address that she gave to court when released on bail earlier this year.
Gumede was later found at her Inanda home.
The raids formed part of an investigation into Gumede and her co-accused that relates to allegations of corruption during a R208 million rand waste collection tender in 2016.
Gumede and her co-accused, who are currently out on bail, face charges of fraud, corruption and money laundering.
