The case against the six people arrested in connection with the Zandspruit mob justice attack has been postponed to June.
The suspects appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Eight people were killed in the attack while a ninth is in a critical condition in hospital.
The group is facing charges of murder, kidnapping and attempted murder.
"The case relates to alleged mob justice incident that took place at Zandspruit claiming the lives of eight people that were allegedly assaulted and burnt by community members of Zandspruit following claims that they were terrorising the community in that area," says spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Gauteng, Phindi Mjonondwane.
"The case was postponed to 9 June for formal bail application proceedings and all accused will remain in custody."
Police Minister Bheki Cele visited the area on Saturday where he vowed to attend to Zandspruit residents’ claims of inefficient policing in the area.
