Zikalala denies meddling in AmaZulu royal affairs

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala has denied meddling in the affairs of the AmaZulu royal family.
Zikalala’s remarks comes amid reports last week that newly nominated Zulu King Misuzulu kwaZelithini was stripped off his security a day after chaos broke out at the KwaKhangelamankengane Palace in KwaNongoma.
“The issue of meddling with the issues there is nothing that we have done to interfere with the issues of the royal house. We deal with the issues of the royal house with respect,” Zikalala said on Thursday.

“Whenever there are issues at the Royal House you would’ve noticed it’s not us who goes to the media. But we deal with those issues with the Royal House and we will continue to do so because administratively the Royal House falls under the office of the premier.”
Misuzulu’s ascendency was not without contention, after a will revealing details that his late mother Mantfombi Shiyiwe Dlamini had nominated him to succeed his father, King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu was read out last week.
Some parts of the royal household felt that Misuzulu was not the rightful heir to the throne.
At a press conference on Saturday, AmaZulu traditional prime minister Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi assured reporters the family had since come together and pledged their loyalty to the new king.
