Zimbabwe pays some of its Eskom debt
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Eskom says the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) has settled part of its outstanding debt to the power utility.
Eskom released a statement on Tuesday afternoon following days of confusion over whether Zimbabwe has paid the money owed.
The proof of the R139 million payment was also posted by Zimbabwe’s minister of energy and power development Fortune Chasi on social media on Tuesday.

Eskom says that discussions with Zesa will continue to settle the outstanding debt.
The economy has recently lurched into a fresh crisis, introduced rotational power cuts of up to 19 hours a day earlier this year, forcing many to do their ironing or cooking in the dead of night.
