The Zimbabwean embassy in Pretoria has expressed its shock and disbelief at the video in which Limpopo Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba is seen berating a patient.
Ramathuba was filmed while confronting a Zimbabwean national in a Bela Bela hospital about seeking medical attention in South Africa.
The embassy says it is concerned about the way Ramathuba handled the situation.
“We believe that platforms exist for engagement, and we subscribe to full utilisation of appropriate channels and platforms for the good of our two countries.”

Calls have been growing for Ramathuba to be punished for her remarks.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have called on Ramathuba to be axed.
In the video, Ramathuba is seen berating the patient for putting pressure on the country’s ailing health system, saying the country cannot afford to help foreign nationals at the expense of its own citizens.
