Zondo was speaking at the first day of the State Capture Inquiry in Johannesburg on Monday.

The commissions will probe claims of state capture at various government departments and state-owned enterprises.

"The State Security Agency had not been able to meet our expectations and request in terms of processing security clearance," Zondo told the commission.

He added that he hopes the matter will be resolved soon.

"Because the work the commission needs to do is urgent, we are constantly asked how far we are."

Zondo said his team is working around the clock to ensure that work of the commission is effective.

He also urged government departments to cooperate with the commission, since the commission  has experienced delays in its dealings with National Treasury over the past few months.

"On two occasions I had to ask the Minister of Finance (Nhlanhla Nene) to intervene."

Zondo said the response from the public to submit information to the commission has been disappointing.

"We all know that there are many people out there who know and have evidence."

Zondo pleaded with members of the public who has information to submit it to the commission.
