Zulu launch Covid-19 social relief grant

The social development portfolio says the Covid-19 social
relief grant is ready for implementation.
President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the R350 grant for the unemployed and those who are not receiving grant from the state as part of the government's expanded social relief efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu is expected to launch the application process on Monday.
In a statement, the South African Social Security Agency’s (Sassa) says it has been inundated with enquiries since the announcement of the grant.
‘Sassa had to ensure that it puts all the required controls in place to ensure that the grant is only accessed by deserving and qualifying individuals.”

Zulu briefed the media in Pretoria on Wednesday. The special grant was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa last week as part of the government's expanded social relief efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic. Zulu said applicants will need to meet a specific set of criteria.
