Zuma appoints new acting police boss

President Jacob Zuma has appointed Lieutenant-General Lesetja Mothiba as acting National Police Commissioner.

The acting tenure of Lieutenant-General Khomotso Phahlane came to an end today.
Mothiba is currently the police's Divisional Head of the Management Intervention Unit.
Phahlane has recently made the headlines amid his public battle with the head of the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID), Robert McBride over an investigation into his alleged involvement in corruption.
