Zuma corruption case postponed to 2021
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
The corruption case involving former president Jacob Zuma and French arms company Thales has been postponed to February 2021.

This followed brief proceedings in the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday.
Zuma and Thales were absent with the permission of the court.
This postponement is due to a pending ruling on an application brought by Thales to get the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) to drop the racketeering charges it brought against it.

Thales argues that it was not part of the racketeering enterprise.
The court heard that international travel, effected during lockdown, also affected the travel arrangements of witnesses and the Thales representative.
The case has been postponed for 23 February.
Zuma is accused of pocketing bribes during the 1998/99 procurement of arms.
He denies the charges against him and maintains that they are politically-motivated.
