The National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) Shaun Abrahams could inform former president Jacob Zuma whether he will face corruption charges or not on Thursday.

This follows the Constitutional Court's dismissal of an application to prevent Abrahams from doing so on Wednesday.

"The parties will be informed, and then the NDPP will identify a date upon which he will announce his decision," says the NDPP's spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku.

The Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution (CASAC) asked the court to interdict Abrahams pending the outcome of a court case to determine his future.

But the court dismissed the application due to a lack of urgency.

CASAC is one of several parties to the case asking the apex court to uphold another court ruling, which set Abrahams' appointment aside.

The court however is yet to announce when it plans to hand down judgement.
