Sanco’s provincial secretary Sizwe Cele says they are shocked and it's a bogus conference with no affiliation to Sanco.

The provincial conference on Friday grabbed headlines after former president Jacob Zuma was elected as its chairperson.

Cele says they're flabbergasted, as the meeting was led by former Sanco leaders who had been expelled.

"Everyone within the political arena knows that the majority of those people who were leading that success is constitutional delinquents, who at some point were suspended and expelled."

He also had some choice words for the former president.

“Former president Zuma doesn't have a membership with Sanco, even if he was a member in the last two years. The constitution prescribes a minimum number of years of membership before being delegated to a provincial level, so there is no way he can qualify to be part of the PEC.”
