Between 35 000 and 40 000 people were in attendance at the Umkhozi Welembe at Durban's Moses Mabhida stadium where the Zulu nation commemorated 200 years since its establishment today.

King Goodwill Zwelithini was joined on stage by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, KZN MECs including Sihle Zikalala, Sibongiseni Dhlomo, Weziwe Thusi and Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi. eThewkini Mayor Zandile Gumede is also in attendance.
During a keynote address, President Zuma reflected on the foundation of the Zulu nation.
The President says the Zulu nation has always shown respect for women but these days you hear of men shooting women.
It's important to go back to the teachings of the Zulu nation, he says.

The celebration was in previous years held at King Shaka’s grave site in KwaDukuza but is this year being hosted at Moses Mabhida to accommodate the influx of attendees.
