The Defend our Democracy campaign has welcomed former President Jacob Zuma's decision to hand himself over to the authorities on Wednesday night.
"As late as it might be, we welcome the fact that former President Zuma handed himself in," said the group's Dipak Patel.
"Having said that, we are also aware that there are concurrent court processes that are currently underway, that includes the KwaZulu-Natal High court consideration of the stay of execution order by him, as well as the recission application that he brought, which the Constitutional court agreed to hear on Monday," says Patel.

"We think that he should serve out either the full or the part of the sentence as handed down the Constitutional court - obey those orders while he awaits what the outcome so the concurrent cases might be."
Zuma was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment for contempt of Court by the Constitutional Court.
"This moment requires us all to put the interests of our democracy first and uphold the Constitution and rule of law," said Patel.
