Busisiwe Mkhwebane filed her answering affidavit to Zuma's court application to have the remedial action of the State of Capture report reviewed.

She submits it would not be in the interests of justice to halt the implementation of the remedial action

Public Protector spokesperson Cleopatra Mosana says: "Mkhwebane submitted it would not be in the best interests of justice to stay the implementation of the remedial action, as the president has publically stated they support the appointment of a judicial inquiry into the allegations of state capture."

Mkhwebane believes an inquiry into state capture is urgent.

"The Public Protector submitted that there is a pressing public interest in the allegations of state capture as contained in the 'State of Capture Report'. Every day there are further allegations in the media which are a serious cause for concern. It is in the public's interest for the truth of these allegations to be investigated and tested," Mosana adds.
