He was addressing hundreds of people outside the Durban High Court on Friday morning, where the former president appeared on 16 charges of fraud, corruption, racketeering and money laundering.

"Comrades, I stand here to say thank you to Msholozi for everything he has done for this beloved country of ours," Niehaus to the crowd. "I am also standing here to personally say thank you to Msholozi for the support he has given to me for many years."

Niehaus also lashed out at those who don't believe Zuma should receive any support.

"Comrades how can I be told that I may not come here and support Msholozi when he supported me in the most difficult times?"  Niehaus asked.

Zuma also received support from former SABC CEO, Hlaudi Motsoeneng, and ANC KwaZulu-Natal leader Sihle Zikalala.

Speaking in isiZulu, Zuma questioned why he was being treated like a prisoner by some of the people he trusted the most.

He warned that should the court case continue - the truth would come out.

"Once the court case continues, maybe they will wish that it shouldn't go ahead because the lies will come out."
