President Jacob Zuma will lead a government delegation to the SADC heads of state and government summit in Malawi, the international relations department said on Tuesday.

The summit, in the Malawian capital Lilongwe, was scheduled for August 17 and 18, spokesman Clayson Monyela said in a statement.
The South African Development Community (SADC) summit convenes annually in August.
Monyela said issues to be discussed included an overview of the political and socio-economic situation in the region.
The Republic of Malawi would assume the position of SADC chair during the summit.
"SADC continues to serve as the primary vehicle for South African foreign policy to achieve regional development and integration within Southern Africa.
"South Africa’s future remains inextricably linked to the future of the African continent and that of its neighbours in Southern Africa," Monyela said.
International Relations and Co-operation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane would participate in the SADC council of ministers’ meeting, scheduled for August 14 and 15.
Apart from Nkoana-Mashabane, Zuma would be accompanied by Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies and Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.
