Zuma's corruption trial set to begin

Former president Jacob Zuma is expected to make a brief appearance at the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Tuesday.

The appearance is in relation to a multi-billion rand arms deal with French company Thales.
Zuma is accused of received numerous bribes in exchange for protection of the business from investigation.
A warrant of arrest was issued in February when Zuma failed to appear in court which was previously stayed till 6 May. It was further extended due to the lockdown.
Zuma will be represented by a new lawyer, Eric Mabuza, who says Tuesday will give them an opportunity to discuss how and when to move forward.
