My 67 Minutes: Nelson Mandela Foundation to focus on four areas this Mandela Day
Updated | By Dianne Broodryk
The Nelson Mandela Foundation has four areas of focus to celebrate this coming Mandela Day: providing shelter, food security, education - especially reading and a clean environment.
The Chief Executive of the Foundation, Sello Hatang said these are all bound together to achieve the same goal.
"All these programmes are about according people their dignity and without dignity you have little left of you. We are saying to people to go out and to make sure you accord people their dignity," he said.
Bikers for Mandela Day will this year do the first ever Mandela Day event in neighbouring Mozambique.
This is the birth country of Madiba's widow, Graca Machel. Hatang said he is delighted.
"To now be talking about doing an international bit where we are going to Mozambique tells you that we are going back to the issues that Madiba always raised. Without international solidarity, you cannot bring about change."
