Arod's Small Tip
Updated | By Michael Savage

Butter, Margarine, Olive oil.. Which is healthiest when cooking food.
Butter
We all know butter is high in fat and not too great for your waistline and increases cholesterol so not good for the heart either.
Margarine
Is made from vegetable oil, is low in saturated fat but high in trans-fatty acids. Trans fatty acids, or trans fats, are thought not only to raise levels of bad cholesterol, but also to lower levels of good cholesterol, This makes trans fats worse than saturated fat.
Olive oil
Olive Oil is rich in good fat. It is also a natural anti-oxidant. However heating it to around 150 degrees Celcius (note that most stoves can reach heat of over 200 degrees) causes what they call a Smoke point. Sum of the antioxidants change from good to bad.
Here are some Oils that if used correctly can cut down the waistline and personally I’d choose Avocado
Type of Oil |
Smoke Point Temperature |
Grape Seed |
485ºF or 252ºC |
Avocado |
480ºF or 249ºC |
Sesame |
410ºF or 210ºC |
Canola |
400ºF or 204ºC |
Macademia |
385ºF or 196ºC |
