Father’s Day gift ideas for under R100

In South Africa, Father’s Day occurs every year on the third Sunday in the month of June.  Here are some ideas for gifts under R100 (but priceless gifts are those that come straight from the heart anyway):

 

• Find pictures of your dad and you from past family holidays/birthdays and put together a collage in a cool photo frame.  If you have a younger sibling, help them to make a macaroni frame in which to put a single picture that holds good memories.

 

• Get some awesome breakfast goodies and make him breakfast in bed.  You can use a flower from the garden to brighten up the tray and finish off with cool hand-made card. 

 

• Make a booklet of ‘vouchers’ entitling him to a 15 minute massage, 5 hugs, etc.  Think of all the things he would appreciate and give him vouchers he can use during the month of June.

 

• Make a goody bag with some chocolates and microwave popcorn you can enjoy whilst watching a movie at home.

 

• Make a picnic basket filled with sandwiches and snacks and juice to enjoy in the garden or a nearby park.  

 

• Paint a picture for his desk at the office – check out Artjamming at Melrose Arch.

 

• Visit Karoo Café in Pretoria for the best chocolate milkshakes and play some board games or card games.

 

• Buy microwave popcorn and chocolates and hire his favourite movie and enjoy a night in.

 

• Lastly, it is not about the monetary value, but more about the thought.  If nothing else, spend time with your dad or significant male influence and tell him just how much he means to you!
