#SopaGP: Gautrain to receive more trains

The Gautrain fleet will be receiving 48 new trains to add to its fleet.

It will form part of the province's plan to get more Gauteng residents to make use of the public transport system.


Gauteng Premier David Makhura delivered his State of the Province Address in Sebokeng on Monday where he fleshed out the provincial government¹s plans for this local government election year.


Makhura said R3.5 billion injection would create more than 9 000 jobs.


"The next phase of the expansion of the Gautrain, whose planning we are currently finalizing, will radically transform the spatial configuration of major parts of City Region. It will help us connect the western, northern, southern corridors to the central corridor," Makhura said. 


Makhura said the Gautrain was radically transforming the public transport experience in South Africa and especially in Gauteng, with more people relying on the Gautrain as a convenient means of transport.
