SuperSport United remained at the summit of the Absa Premiership log despite playing to a 1-1 away draw to Mpumalanga Black Aces on Sunday.

The weekend's action kicked off on Friday night with Bidvest Wits claiming their second win on the trot. The Students edged Ajax Cape Town via a second half solitary goal by Robin Ngalande, a win that saw them climb to fourth on the log.

The Free State - Platinum Stars game was the only Saturday game that failed to produce goals. The two teams played to a goalless draw down at Goble Park.

Kaizer Chiefs returned to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Maritzburg United at the FNB Stadium. The game saw big summer signing Knowledge Musona break his duck for the new season since returning from Germany in the offseason.

University of Pretoria registered their first three points of the season with 2-0 win over visiting Blomfontein Celtic at the Tuks Stadium on Saturday afternoon.  Two quick-fire goals by Atusaye Nyondo and Geoffrey Massa were enough for the Pretoria team to pick up their first win.

AmaZulu continued with their positive start to the new season as a Bongani Ndulula's first half strike was enough to take all three points against Moroka Swallows. The result shot them to second on the log. Polokwane City remained rooted at the wrong end of the log after going down 2-1 at home to Lamontville Golden Arrows  on Sunday.

Orlando Pirates were not in PSL action this weekend after traveling to Congo Brazzaville for a CAF Champions League encounter against AC Leopards. A game they lost 1-0 to put their qualification hopes to the semi-final in jeopardy. Mamelodi Sundowns were also inactive this weekend, they are away to Ajax Cape Town tomorrow night.
