Baxter walks away from Bafana Bafana
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter on Friday announced his resignation from the national football team.
Baxter made the announcement at a private venue and in Johannesburg and not at the South African Football Association (Safa) headquarters.
Bafana Bafana surprised by reaching the quarter-finals of the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, but the team came under fire for its perceived negative tactics and lack of goals.
The Brit says he took the decision to step down as he feels he cannot continue with the same passion and professionalism as he had done in the past.
“I do however feel someone else should no continue with this project, therefore I’ll be resigning from the position as national coach with Safa.”
