Springbok fans will be able to get their hands on a brand new supporters’ jersey, made by ASICS, in time for the kick-off of a new era under coach Allister Coetzee when the Boks face Ireland in the Castle Lager Incoming Series next month.
The supporters’ jerseys are proudly made in South Africa for South Africans, by South Africans, and feature enhanced durability and quality through updated textured fabrication.
The new supporters’ jersey was jointly launched by SA Rugby and ASICS, official apparel partner of the Springboks, on Thursday.
The launch of the supporters’ replica jersey coincides with ASICS’ “Want It More” worldwide marketing campaign, which was launched earlier in 2016, and the Castle Lager Incoming Series of three Tests against Ireland in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth next month.
ASICS’ “Want It More” campaign for 2016 was filmed on location in South Africa with the country’s passion for sport serving as the ideal setting to inspire athletes both locally and worldwide to enhance and further improve their levels of performance.

Brian Kerby, General Manager for ASICS South Africa, said providing the Springboks and their supporters with the best possible equipment is paramount for their company.
“We are extremely proud to provide a locally made product that is of a world-class standard, and most importantly, to see the team and their supporters wear a jersey that is manufactured by the nation they represent,” said Kerby.
Jurie Roux, CEO of SA Rugby, said it was appropriate that fans will have the opportunity to show their support for the Boks, under a new coaching staff headed by Coetzee, with a new and improved replica jersey.
“The improved quality of the new supporters’ replica jersey fits with our aim of consistently delivering improvements across the board, and we are looking forward to working with ASICS in contributing towards a successful 2016 campaign,” said Roux.
“We’re planning to bring smiles to the faces of South African supporters wearing the new ASICS jersey.”
The Springbok team will continue to play in the Test jersey launched last year, which was developed following months of hard work by scientists, in collaboration with SA Rugby, at the ASICS Institute of Sport Science in Kobe, Japan.
The Springboks will take on Ireland in their alternative white strip before playing Argentina in the iconic green and gold in the opening match of the Castle Lager Rugby Championship in Nelspruit in August.
Both the new home and away jerseys are available at Sportsman’s Warehouse and other leading sports retailers nationwide.
