Boks vs Ireland -- #AlloutRugby stats
Updated | By Jacasport
The Springboks erased one of their worst first-half performances to complete a remarkable come back to beat Ireland 32-26 at Emirates Airline Park to square the Castle Lager Incoming Series.
Reading the complete match statistics
taken from the All Out Rugby App would be slightly misleading as it
reflects an almost dominant performance by the Boks.
As dour as they were in the first half, they were exhilarating in the final 20 minutes of the match, thanks to the spark provided by the bench.
Like the week before, South Africa were in control of the crucial statistics such as the territory and possession but this time around they managed to convert that into points.
South Africa scored their first of four tries in the second half with Emirates Lions Ruan Combrinck making a dream debut by supplying the spark that would ignite the Boks’ spirit in the 55th minute with a superb individual try.
The Boks enjoyed 60 percent of the possession while they also had a territorial advantage of 65 percent to 35 percent.
The Irish were once again made to dig deep on defence as the Boks threw everything at them making 161 Carries.
For most of the time Ireland’s defence held strong making 117 Tackles with the Boks beating 14 defenders.
The home side made 479 running metres in the clash to the 214 by the Irish while South Africa made eight Clean Breaks, double the amount by the visitors.
South Africa moved the ball around making seven offloads and making 148 passes compared to three and 74 by the tourists.
National coach Allister Coetzee will still be concerned about the team’s error rate, and the amount of possession they concede to Ireland.
The Boks made 17 handling errors to seven while they were once again outsmarted at the breakdowns with the Irish winning 10 turnovers with South Africa only making two.
The set piece has also shown signs of improvement with the Boks winning six scrums on their own feed without conceding while they also won 13 lineouts on own ball compared to three by Ireland.
