The Soweto side has now failed to win in their last five fixtures.

SuperSport made the early running and, after a good passing move, Thabo Mnyamane was unlucky not to put his side ahead when his shot went narrowly wide. The Pretoria side continued to press, with Dean Furman’s free-kick easily dealt with by Chiefs goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune.

SuperSport’s Reneilwe Letsholonyane had a chance to score against his former club, but his effort skimmed the crossbar.

Two chances then accrued to SuperSport striker Bradley Grobler, one a free-kick that went wide and the other which was brilliantly saved by Khune. Something had to give though and, in the 30th minute, the Pretoria team took the lead when Mnyamane scored. The lead though didn’t last long as, just a minute later, Chiefs drew level when George Lebese netted to make it 1-1.

The equaliser stung Chiefs into action and two more quick opportunities followed. First, Lebese steered an attempt wide of the target and, soon after, George Maluleka’s cracking shot was well-saved by SuperSport goalkeeper, Reyaad Pieterse.

Both teams came out strongly in the second half trying to get the win. For SuperSport, Letsholonyane went close, while Lebese stabbed an effort wide for Chiefs. Amakhosi had two more opportunities, Lorenzo Gordinho headed over and Willard Katsande shot wide, while, for SuperSport, Mnyamane sent an attempt sailing wide.

A substitution for Chiefs saw Daniel Cardosa replacing Eric Mathoho.

SuperSport had a great opportunity to snatch the three points before the end, after a superb passing movement involving a few players, but when the ball fell to Jeremie Brockie, the New Zealander couldn’t finish it off.
