We are finally back after the summer break and there is already drama in the paddock.

The Formula One summer break has been ridiculed with drama around driver moves but the most recent news has surprised the F1 world.

McLaren and Daniel Ricciardo have “mutually agreed” to terminate his contract one year early, meaning the eight-time race winner will depart at the end of the 2022 campaign.

What does the mean for Ricciardo?

There are currently seats available at AlphaTauri, Alfa Romeo, Alpine, Haas and Williams, with Haas looking like the most promising team for him.

Other drama included Oscar Piastri , who was very vocal on social media about his premature contract announcement and Track This podcast Panelist and race driver Tschops Sipuka feels like this could negatively impact his future in Formula One.

“I don’t see him lasting a very long time in Formula One now, because any team that he drives for knows that there is controversy around him,” he says.

Another surprise move was Fernando Alonso signing for Aston Martin.

Brent Van der Schyff, Motoring and Motorsport Journalist from TopGear South Africa, says: “Alonso is a season veteran and has the mental fortitude to push through the business side of Formula One. I think Alonso is a champion in his own right.”

However, all the drama will be forgotten once it's lights out in Belgium this weekend and the rain will bring an additional element of surprise.
