The Brazil GP gave fans one of the most eventful Formula One weekends of the 2022 calendar. Kevin Magnussen took his maiden pole; George Russell had his first career win and the race was action-packed with accidents and overtakes.

However, fans are focused specifically on an incident in the Red Bull camp. After Sergio Perez let Verstappen through on lap 67, Verstappen refused to give the position back, saying on the radio: “The guys, don’t ask me that again…I gave my reasons and I stand by it.”

Motorsport analyst, TopGear SA Director and Track This podcast panelist Avon Middleton says the decision has caused negative fallout. “It was perhaps the worst show of sportsmanship, or lack of sportsmanship, from Max ever and I think it was the worst thing he could have done for his fans. Even the most die-hard Max fans were disappointed in him.”

Tschops Sipuka, race car driver and fellow Track This panelist agrees saying, “Pathetic, his conduct was absolute pathetic this time around. Without Perez, that championship in Abu Dhabi would have never swung his way.”

Kriya Gangiah, Track This host and motorsport enthusiast, believes this is not end of it, “This is going to push over into 2023. He’s going to bring that negative energy into the new season.”
