Five Sundowns players in line for CAF Awards

Five Mamelodi Sundowns players were included in a list of 30 nominees for the Confederation of African Football annual awards. The list was announced in a post by the Continental body on Saturday.
According to the official Mamelodi Sundowns website, Khama Billiat, who swept the boards in the South African awards at the end of last season, tops the list of Sundowns nominees, which includes Keagan Dolly, Denis Onyango, Hlompho Kekana and Ivorian Yannick Zakri, who joined Sundowns from Asec Mimosas.
The players were nominated for the 2016 African Player of the Year based in Africa award. Kaizer Chiefs’ Itumeleng Khune was the only other player from South Africa to be nominated in this category.
Dolly, Billiat and Onyango were also nominated for the main award in list which includes Riyaad Mahrez of English Champions Leicester City, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who plies his trade with German giants Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel, Samuel Etoo, and Ghanaian Andrew Ayew. And AS Roma striker Mohammed Salah.
The winners will be announced on January 5, 2017, according to CAF.
