Bavuma was appointed as captain of the limited-overs teams in March and he will also act as vice-captain of the Test team alongside Dean Elgar.

Boucher says preparations for the series have gone well.

"I am very happy with how things have gone," Boucher said.

"Themba is a nice guy, so it's not going to be difficult for him to form relationships with players.

"I think we have to give Themba some time to find his feet - that's only fair.

"It's very exciting times for him, for us and we are very much looking forward to it.

"We've had some good team chats and we've revisited our value system.

"We are just excited to get out on the field and play now,” Boucher said.

The Proteas take on Pakistan in three one-day internationals (ODIs) and four T20 matches in April, with the first ODI being played on Friday.

All seven matches are scheduled to take place at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
