Human appointed new Bulls coach
Updated | By Marius van der Walt
The Vodacom Bulls have appointed Pote Human as head coach ahead of the 2019 Super Rugby season.
Human, who coached the Bulls' forwards during this year's tournament, succeeds John Mitchell.
The New Zealander left Loftus Versveld earlier this year to take up a position as assistant to England coach Eddie Jones.
"Pote's history in rugby and his CV speaks for itself," says Blue Bulls high performance manager Xander Janse van Rensburg.
"He has been a professional coach for more than 20 years, and has coached in Japan, South African and around the world. He was part of Heyneke Meyer's management team when the Bulls won the 2007 Super Rugby title against the Sharks.
"We brought him back from Griquas in 2015, and he led the University of Pretoria to a Varsity Cup title in 2017. He came back into our system in 2017 with the SuperSport Challenge and the under-21's. He was part of John Mitchell's team as assistant coach during this year's Super Rugby and was the head coach of the Currie Cup team."
Janse van Rensburg says Human's credentials speaks for itself.
"He is a phenomenal person with great values, who loves this place and wants to make a difference to Bulls rugby."
Human admits he is still a little shocked at his appointment.
"I was always hoping to get the job. I heard it officially yesterday and is still in shock. But I am really pleased, I am really happy.
"I will make it work. I have to make it work."
