Kampala ready for Sundowns onslaught

Head coach of Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA), Mike Mutebi, has boldly declared his team’s readiness for the fight in their last 32 first-leg CAF Champions League fixture at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.

Mamelodi Sundowns

Mutebi said: “We are also champions in Uganda and we shall make sure we get a good result in Pretoria.”

After eliminating Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto at the Preliminary Round, Mutebi’s side remains hungry to prove a point in Pretoria.

“We know Sundowns have the experience because they have played several matches on the continent. But they should not underrate us because we have what it takes to get a good result,” he added.

KCCA captain, Dennis Okot, says Sundowns should expect to be surprised: “We are going to prove a point that KCCA is a strong team that deserves respect,” added the defender.

The Ugandans will rely mainly on former South Africa-based forward Geoffrey Serunkuma, who scored twice in the preliminary round and defender Joseph Ochaya, both part of the Cranes squad at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

“I like the fact that we shall play an African champion because this means there is a lot at stake. We need to get a good result away before our home game,” added Sserunkuma.

Uganda first choice goalkeeper, Denis Onyango, who has been out injured, remains a doubt for Sundowns.
