Mosimane: Percy Tau deserves his big move

The Seagulls announced on Friday that Tau agreed on a four-year contract with the club.

Mosimane says although it is always difficult for Sundowns to lose a player of Tau's quality, he deserves an opportunity to play in a top league.

"We said it must be one of the top five leagues in Europe. We never budged with Russia and all those things. He did not understand sometimes but he is smiling now.

"He can be happy with everyone now that he's gone to the English Premier League and that is what we want. We need to see somebody there, we don't have anybody now. Hopefully he represents us well and the others can follow. You know how it is, one goes and the rest will follow.

"We wish him all the best of luck and all the success. He is not representing Sundowns, he is representing South Africa. And he needs to come here and play for Bafana Bafana."

Tau has made 12 international appearances for Bafana Bafana, scoring five goals.

"Percy is a player we have highlighted for the future, and there is no doubting his talent, having been voted South African player of the season," Brighton manager Chris Hughton says.

"Percy will go out on loan this season, play regularly and get some experience of European football."

Tau says the move will help him play more international football.

"I'll be learning a lot, which will also be good for my country. Hopefully I can make some great memories here - I love making memories and I'm so happy to be here."
