No medal for Clad le Clos in Tokyo

South Africa’s London 2012 champion Chad le Clos of South Africa finished fifth in the 200 meter butterfly at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

This year’s Games is likely to be the KwaZulu-Natal native’s final Olympics.
Swimming in lane three, Le Clos got off to a fast start, as he was the first swimmer to turn at the half-way point at the 100m mark. But he couldn’t keep up the pace and failed to achieve a podium finish.
World record holder Kristof Milak powered to the Olympic men's 200m butterfly gold medal on Wednesday but complained a tear in his trunks cost him a new global mark.
The 21-year-old Hungarian, who smashed Michael Phelps's world record in 2019, hit the wall in a new Olympic record time of 1min 51.25sec.
Le Clos will now focus his attention on the 100m butterfly heats on Thursday.
