Pitso Mosimane leaves Egyptian giants Al Ahly

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have parted ways with their South African-born coach Pitso Mosimane.

The club confirmed his departure in a statement on Monday, saying a mutual agreement was reached between the club and Mosimane.
He joined the club in September 2020 after a dramatic and unexpected move from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The South African-born coach has been under scrutiny with the former club players calling for his sacking.
In a statement, the club says an agreement was reached after a meeting between Mosimane, the club president, chair and some board members.
“During the meeting that was previously held, Mosimane requested to leave and that he is satisfied with the achievements he managed to accomplish with the club.
“Later on, Mosimane's decision was discussed and it was decided to approve his request to part ways with the club and thank him for the achievements that he accomplished with the club.”
Mosimane won five trophies at Al Ahly, including back-to-back CAF Champions League titles in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.
