Polokwane win to move within sight of leaders Pirates
Updated | By AFP
A 3-1 come-from-behind South African Premiership victory for Polokwane City over Black Leopards Sunday moved them within four points of leaders Orlando Pirates with five rounds remaining.
Leading Premiership scorer Mwape Musonda from Zambia lifted his season total to 13 by nodding lowly Leopards into a 26th-minute lead in northern city Polokwane.
City levelled in first half stoppage-time through a curling shot by Puleng Tlolane and went ahead early in the second half when a quickly taken free-kick led to Mpho Mvelase scoring.
Ghanaian Mohammed Anas put Polokwane further ahead 10 minutes from time with a tap-in for his seventh league goal of the campaign.
Coached by Slovak Jozef Vukuzic, fifth-place Polokwane have won 10 and drawn 10 of 25 Premiership matches with 37-year-old captain Jabulani Maluleke starring in midfield.
Leopards' loss leaves them just one point above the relegation zone, but they do have matches in hand over fellow strugglers Chippa United, Baroka, Free State Stars and Maritzburg United.
