Proteas coach says he doesn’t feel let down by the players
Updated | By Trevor Cramer
A handful of Proteas players and the team management returned from the Caribbean on Wednesday morning after failing to make the final of the Triangular Series against the West Indies and Australia.
Proteas head coach Russell Domingo says he doesn’t feel let down by the players and is prepared to take the brunt of the criticism.
"I am not a coach who will sit here and blame the players for poor performance. I don't feel let down by the players. I feel let down by performances. The results haven't been as good as we would have hoped.
"I do feel the players gave as much as they could. There are concerns with their workloads and that is something we will have to discuss going forward," Domingo says.
The amount of cricket being played by contracted Proteas players at present is a very serious concern, he says.
He believes his biggest challenge is to make sure international cricket remains the most important focus for the players.
