Tinkler says Bucs have defensive chinks

Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler is respectful of the Orlando Pirates attack, although he believes there are weaknesses in his former team.

Tinkler, who spent 18-months with Pirates and led them to the final of the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup, faces his old club for the first time since becoming head coach of Cape Town City.

In their Absa Premiership outings so far, the Cape team have beaten Polokwane City at home, but lost to Golden Arrows in Durban. They have also beaten Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8, but then lost 3-0 on aggregate to Bidvest Wits in the same competition.

The goal now will no doubt be to find some consistency in the league. While Tinkler admits his defence is going to have to be on their toes against an exciting Pirates attack, the former Bafana midfielder does feel his side will be in with a chance if they can put the Bucs defence under pressure.

"Right now we’ve all seen Tendai Ndoro. He is always a threat. The goal he scored against Ajax [shows] he’s the type of player that if you give a lot of space‚ he will hurt you," said Tinkler

"I think they have made a number of very good signings. [Abbubaker] Mobara. I like this boy [Bernard] Morrison."

"But I think they are certain weaknesses from what I’ve seen, especially defensively."

"But they are always a talented team. They are always going to be a threat especially when their tails are up," Tinkler was quoted as saying.

"We are going there for a win. But we got to plan and prepare properly," he added.

The match takes place at the Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night, 20 September, kick off scheduled for 19H30.
