[WATCH] Shosholoza echoes through Olympic village in honor of Tatjana Schoenmaker

South Africa’s star swimmer, Tatjana Schoenmaker, was surprised
with a guard of honor by her teammates when she returned to her room at the Olympic
Village on Friday.

The 24-year old Schoenmaker bagged South Africa’s first gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics on Friday and also broke the world record in the women’s 200m breast stroke.
When she got to the building housing Team SA, she was led through a guard of honor formed by members of Team SA, while they jubilantly sang Shosholoza.

Earlier in the week, Schoenmaker also won the silver medal in the women’s 100, breast stroke.
On Friday morning, Schoenmaker told Jacaranda FM’s Breakfast with Martin Bester all she could wish for was to now come home and celebrate with familie and friends around the fire.
