"We want Springboks to play in British & Irish Lions tour" – Rassie Erasmus

The director of South African Rugby, Rassie Erasmus, hopes the
Springboks will contest the British & Irish Lions tour this year.

In a media briefing on Monday, rugby director Rassie Erasmus said that they believe the Springboks will play in July.
“The first thing is that we would love to play, and we would do anything to play them. We don’t want to miss this and what we have to do play that, we sacrificed the Rugby Championship last year because of player welfare.
“If at the end of the day option A doesn’t work in South Africa, and option B is this and C is that we will go to option Z and we don’t want to lose this Lions series because we deserve to play this match.”

Erasmus said that despite frustrations due to COVID-19, they hope to play in the tour.
“I think we will find a solution and we will play the Lions, but the frustration is unbelievable for us, but I mean we cannot compare this to people who do not have jobs or died and nurses who works and help people."
The Lions are scheduled to tour South Africa to play eight matches between July 3 and August 7 this year.
