Woods set to miss British Open cut

Tiger Woods is set to miss the cut at the British Open despite a one-under-par 70 at Royal Portrush on Friday, as he failed to recover from his disastrous first round.
Only some incredibly difficult afternoon conditions for the late starters would be able to save the 15-time major champion, as he paid for his poor opening day.
Woods, who said he felt "sore" after firing a seven-over 78 on Thursday, made four birdies, but three bogeys left him on six-over for the tournament with the projected cut line sitting at plus one at the end of his round.
That total left the Masters champion 14 shots off the clubhouse lead held by fellow American J.B. Holmes.
It would only be the third time in his 21 appearances that three-time winner Woods has missed the Open cut, after also suffering that fate in 2009 and 2015.
A charge to make the weekend briefly looked within the 43-year-old's reach when he made two straight birdies to reach four-over through 11 holes.
But a run of five successive pars was followed by a bogey on the 17th as heavy rain hit the course, and he finished off with one last dropped shot on the final green.
Home favourite Rory McIlroy also faces a mountainous task to take his campaign into Saturday when he tees off at 1410 GMT, after shooting a miserable first-round 79.
