Those waging a fightback will not win, says Ramaphosa

African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa says those waging a fight back against the ANC and government will not succeed.
Ramaphosa spoke at a dialogue in Sandton, under the theme 'building bridges'.
"South Africa is going to be renewed. The things that happened in the past are going to be history. Even those who say they are waging a fight back will not succeed and we are going to make sure they do not succeed because by and large, the majority of South Africans are sick and tired of the wrong things that were done in the past.”
The president's comments come amid controversy over the ANC's party list, and the inclusion of the likes of Nomvula Mokonyane, Bathabile Dlamini and Malusi Gigaba.
However, Ramaphosa says these names were chosen through the party's democratic processes.
"Similarly in my own party as well, the democratic process has yielded a particular result and the number of names have come to the fore being people who will go to parliament. Those people said they haven't been charged for anything and not have been found guilty.
"Those are issues that we have to deal with they are difficult issues they are not easy issues because they also impact on the image of the integrity of the organisation, but I can tell you that we will be able to deal with all those issues.
"Quite often people want quick solutions, they want immediate solution. You are dealing with human beings and not bottles of coca cola or tins of fish. All I can say is that the ANC is irrevocably committed to doing the right things.”
The ANC has referred the party's list to its integrity committee for review.
