A million for marijuana
Updated | By Shayling Guy
Day one of recreational marijuana sales in the state of Colorado was no less than a monolithic financial success - shops said, raking in more than $1 million in recreational and medical marijuana sales.

Many await the turn of events on day two and beyond after Colorado became the first US state to legally sell marijuana for recreational use. The drug has also been granted legal status in Washington, however, sales will only commence later on in the year. Medical marijuana is legal in 18 other US states.
Currently, Colorado is spearheading the global legalization movement. In the Netherlands, marijuana is technically illegal, but is still consumed in Amsterdam and other parts of the country since 1976 when it was informally decriminalized. In December last year, Uruguay became the first country to legalize the cannabis industry, but it's laws have yet to be placed into effect.
