BACKGROUND:

On 23 September 2012, South Africa woke up to the shocking news that former WBO World Boxing Champion, Corrie Sanders had died. He was heavily wounded in an armed robbery at a restaurant in Brits the evening before, where his entire family were celebrating his nephew's 21st birthday. Sanders was wounded in the arm and stomach and died of his wounds in the early hours of the Sunday morning. Sanders' former wife Suzette Sanders said Corrie died a hero, diving to protect his daughter from oncoming bullets. On 27 September 2012, three men were arrested by North West police for the robbery and murder. The case is continuing.

All who knew Corrie, spoke about his kind and gentle nature and his love of the game of Golf. He was a keen supporter of charity golf days, including the Good Morning Angels Golf Day and was always willing to do his part for others. Only after his death did it emerge that Corrie did not enjoy the financial benefit his illustrious career should have provided. His friends have decided to honor the sports hero by supporting his two children. A Trust Fund has been set up for his children and on 23 April, sports legends and friends will participate in a Golf Day at the Serengeti Golf and Wildlife Estate to raise funds for the trust. Everything is sponsored and every sent earned on the day will go towards the fund.

You can book a 4-ball at R8000,00 for three people to join a celebrity for a round of golf and lots of entertainment on the spectacular Serengeti course. Just email: [email protected]

ORIGINAL REQUEST:

Groete,
John Hart
