26 March is the date when everything changed. South Africa entered lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Remember when we could only go out to the pharmacy, the doctor, and for essential shopping?

South Africa tried its best to curb the COVID-19 infections.

Breakfast with Martin Bester broadcast from home and tried to bring the same joy as we’ve always done!

Let’s take a look at the fun we had with you this past year!

1. Martin Bester and his dogs

A dog is a man’s best friend and it is certainly the case with Martin Bester and his pets!

The entire Breakfast show broadcast from their homes from 27 March 2020 and Martin Bester's dogs, Ripley, Lalla, and Lily, did not seem to know!

When they saw Martin Bester just after 06:00, a time he would not usually be at home, they were ecstatic! Listen to the heartwarming moment!

2. Remember when they said we cannot zol?!

Max Hurrell received instant fame after creating a remix of Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma's regulations after she pointed out that the smoking of 'zol' also promotes the spread of the coronavirus.

3. Martin Bester, Liesl Laurie, and Elma Smit got dressed and had nowhere to go!

The #DontRushChallenge was a hit and, of course, the team took part during lockdown!

4. Superstar Nomcebo performed the hit song 'Jerusalema' on Breakfast with Martin Bester's Friday Live!

Towards the end of 2019, Nomcebo Zikode stepped into the studio as a vocalist with producer Master KG to create a song called, 'Jerusalema'.

Months later, the track had gone viral - and then some. People from around the world were sharing videos of themselves dancing along to the hit song.

While many were blown away by the success of the song, it came as no surprise to the singer. As soon as it was safe to do so, we invited her to perform 'Jerusalema' in studio!
