Here’s how many years you might have to work to become a millionaire

A new report shows how long the average South African would have to work to make $1-million.

In a new study conducted by Picodi.com, analysts calculated how many years a person would have to work to make one million dollars in different countries on an average wage.

The list comprised of 102 countries worldwide, which also included South Africa.

According to the study, South Africans earning an average salary in the country would have to work for at least 68 years in order become a global millionaire ($1-million).

The estimation is based on the average amount an employee takes home after tax in each country for an entire year.

According to Business Tech, people who live in Switzerland will earn their first million dollars the fastest - in only 14 years and three months.

Singapore comes second, with its citizens hitting $1-million in 16 years and 11 months.

South Africa came in 38th overall, with citizens having to work almost 70 years to reach $1-million.

South Africa overtook countries such as China, Russia, and Nigeria and was the most well-off country in Africa by Picodi.com’s metrics.

The country that ranked the worst on the list was Pakistan, with citizens having to work 621 years and three months on the average salary to earn $1-million.
