In today’s busy world, it has become increasingly difficult to eat healthily with fast foods that are readily available becoming the norm for many people.
Due to the increased health risks of fast foods and a busy lifestyle, many have opted for healthier on-the-go snacks to sustain them during the day.
Unfortunately, many of these "healthy" snacks offer little to no nutritional value or might not be as healthy as they have been marketed to be.

South African news website IOL recently shared a list of foods that aren't as healthy as they may have been thought.
Here are seven foods that aren't as healthy as you think:
Granola and granola bars
While granola is praised for its whole grains and fibre, many store-bought versions are packed with added sugars and unhealthy fats. This increases calorie intake without real nutritional benefits, and it's easy to over-consume.
Fruit juice
Although fruit juice contains vitamins, it also has high sugar levels and lacks the fibre found in whole fruits. This can lead to increased calorie intake without satisfying hunger.
Whole wheat bread
Not all "whole wheat" breads are truly whole grains. Many contain refined flour and added sugars. To get the full benefits, choose bread labelled "100% whole grain" or "100% whole wheat."
Low-fat or fat-free yoghurt
These yoghurts may seem like a healthy choice, but fat is often replaced with added sugars and artificial flavours. Plain yoghurt with fresh fruit is a better option for reducing sugar intake.

Smoothies
Smoothies, while often filled with fruits and vegetables, can be loaded with sugars and calories, especially if made with sweetened yoghurt or too much fruit. Opt for leafy greens and unsweetened bases for a healthier blend.
Vegan Snack Foods
"Vegan" doesn't automatically mean healthy. Many vegan snacks are highly processed and contain unhealthy oils and sugars. Always check ingredient lists for healthier options.
Dried Fruits
Though nutrient-dense, dried fruits are often high in sugars and calories, especially those with added sugar. Choose unsweetened options and watch your portion sizes.
